Late Shri Shyam Sunder Gogra, Founder of Gogra & Associates was a revered member of the Bar. He was a self-made man with unassuming personality. He was born on 06th July, 1946 in Alwar, Rajasthan and completed his elementary education from his native place before shifting to Jaipur. He completed his graduation from Maharaja College, Jaipur and obtained law degree from Rajasthan University. He enrolled as an Advocate and joined the offices of renowned lawyer Late Shri V. K. Singhal, who later elevated as Judge of the Rajasthan High Court.

He then opened his own firm to serve the clients and fight for justice. He appeared before many High Courts and tribunals in India leading to numerous reported judgements in his favour. His fine advocacy skills were recognised by his peers in the courts. A man with high integrity, he was also appointed as Chairperson of Disciplinary Committee of Bar Council of Rajasthan.

He was also the Founding President of Jaipur Tax Bar Association which grew to become the biggest tax association in the state of Rajasthan. His talents were many; An extremely accomplished lawyer who served as Chief Editor of "Tax Bar Reporter", a fortnightly magazine, published by Tax Bar Association.

Alongside fine advocacy in courts, he was also a community volunteer and an honorary member of various Trade & Social Associations.

He was a man of many dimensions. He was a humble, courteous, industrious and fine human being who served this society as lawyer for 54 years and left this heavenly abode peacefully on 28th January, 2020. Although he is not among us however his attributes, characteristics, manners and commitment to the profession will always motivate us to remain on the right path.
